Facts About Insurance Coverage

We accept many of the popular insurance carriers in the northeast Connecticut region.  However, naturopathic medicine is not as widely covered as general medical care.  Here are some facts to note regarding insurance coverage of naturopathic medicine:

  • If your insurance plan is based in either Massachusetts or Rhode Island—even if you live in Connecticut—it will not cover naturopathic medicine.  Unlike CT, MA and RI do not license naturopathic doctors, and as such, coverage is not available.  (There are exceptions to this for some plans.  Read more about your particular plan below.)
  • Federal plans like Medicare, Medicaid, or plans associated with a federal job will not cover our services.  Plans associated with a state job will likely be covered.
  • A "specialist" copayment will apply to your visit.
  • Some plans require a referral for your visit with us to be covered.  We can help you with this.
  • Some plans have a deductible.  With these plans, you will pay for your visit out-of-pocket until that deductible is met, after which your insurance carrier will begin covering your visits.
  • If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call us!  We call insurance companies every day, and we're glad to help you figure out if your particular carrier will cover your visit with us.
